PC Equipment Grading System

Monday 18 April 2022

Buying a Refurbished PC is the most economical solution with proven similar performance compared to new equipment of similar capacity.

However among these products, there is a grading that is used as a quality standard in the computer industry. This distinction is in Grade A and Grade B.

Alfanet, for its buyers to distinguish the reconstruction processes that the equipment has gone through, based on the ISO, ADISA and Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher certificates, but also its condition before it ended up in their hands, has reshaped this grading.

In the Refurbished equipment of our company, you will notice next to the product name the initials GA +, GA, and GB.

What does this grading mean?

Grade A + (GA +)

Refurbished Grade A + is the highest quality remanufactured equipment available. It means that the product:

  • passed a complete technical inspection that guarantees the proper operation of the entire system. The reconstruction process for Grade A + equipment is meticulous and includes a range of quality checks, such as performing diagnostics on hardware and software components, as well as testing for other possible errors.

  • was repainted externally with the manufacturer's factory colors

  • was packaged in a way that guarantees its safety

  • has an extension of the warranty provided for Refurbished products to 3 years

Grade A (GA)

This category maintains the same high quality in terms of equipment as the GA + but has only one difference in relation to it.

More specifically, it has not gone through the painting process so it may have aesthetically some dull scratches.

Grade B (GB)

This category does not apply to PCs and Laptops but to peripherals. Grade B means that the device has been properly tested for functionality, but has a minor aesthetic flaw. For example a screen may have burnt pixels, or scratches from normal use.

Of course, these aesthetic issues are only a matter of appearance and do not affect the usability of the equipment.

Refurbished Grade B items are what many buyers are looking for when they want to get an even cheaper version of the same equipment.

Alfanet's policy regarding Refurbished equipment, regardless of grading, is for the equipment to undergo a comprehensive check-in at every stage during operation for its functionality, so that it resembles a new one.

It would be a mistake to assume that the lower grades, compared to Grade A +, cause operational problems with the equipment.
